スポーツチームなどに新しく加わった人、または有名人がファンのためにサインをするイベントを指します。

スポーツで新加入選手に使うのが一般的です。『book signings』『autograph signings』はサイン会のこと。『signature（署名）』と混同しないよう注意しましょう。
