불편하거나 좋지 않은 일을 일부러 못 본 척하거나 모르는 척하는 것을 뜻함.

문제나 진실을 일부러 피하고 싶을 때 사용됨. 실제로 눈을 감는 것이 아니라 비유적으로 사용함. ‘shut your eyes to the truth’는 진실을 모른 척한다는 의미.
