Definition

사물이나 사람을 여러 부분으로 나누거나, 사이를 벌리는 것. 물리적으로 분리하는 경우나 관계를 끝내는 경우 모두에 사용할 수 있다.

Usage Notes (Korean)

신체적 분리와 추상적(관계 단절 등) 모두에 쓰인다. 'A를 B와 분리하다'처럼 'from'을 붙여 자주 사용된다. 'splitting'(균등분할), 'divorcing'(이혼)과 혼동하지 않도록 주의.
