物の表面をこすって、軽い傷や跡を付けること。特に靴や床などによく使われます。また、その傷自体を指すこともあります。

「scuff」は日常的に靴や床などの軽い傷や汚れに使います。「scuff mark」は特にその跡自体を指します。「scratch」よりも浅い傷に用いられます。

Be careful not to scuff your new shoes.
