Definition

논리적이지 않고 감정이나 정신적 혼란에서 나오는 미친 듯 한 말이나 생각.

보통 복수형으로 사용되며 논리적이지 않거나 감정적으로 폭발한 말을 가리킨다. 'ignore', 'listen to', 'dismissed as'와 잘 어울린다.

Nobody believed his ravings.

아무도 그의 **헛소리**를 믿지 않았다.

The man's ravings alarmed the nurse.

그 남자의 **헛소리**에 간호사가 깜짝 놀랐다.

She dismissed his words as mere ravings.

그녀는 그의 말을 단순한 **헛소리**로 여겼다.
