誰かがとても静かに、ほとんど音を立てずにいる様子を表します。たいてい、人に気づかれたくない時や迷惑をかけたくない時に使います。

この表現はカジュアルな会話でよく使われ、特に子供や恥ずかしがり屋の人、わざと静かにしている人によく使います。「He was as quiet as a mouse」の形で使えます。怒りや緊張による沈黙には使いません。
