점점 더 빠르게 움직이거나 속도가 증가하는 것. 자동차, 사람, 일의 진전 등 다양한 상황에 쓴다.

일상적으로 널리 쓰이며, 차량이나 동작, 일의 진척 등에서도 사용된다. '가속하다'는 좀 더 공식적/기술적인 느낌.
