神話や想像の中で死者や魂が存在するとされる世界。犯罪組織の社会など隠れた世界を指すこともある。

「冥界」は物語や神話、ファンタジーなど文章や文学でよく使われます。犯罪の世界を「地下世界」として比喩的に表す場合もあります。日常会話ではあまり使いません。
