주로 자녀나 친척을 결혼시키거나 혼인을 주선할 때 씀. 부모가 배우자를 정해주는 경우 자주 사용함.

'Marry off'는 다소 비공식적이며, 결혼 당사자의 자유의지가 적다는 느낌을 준다. 주로 'daughter', 'son', 'children' 등과 함께 쓰고, 자기 자신의 결혼엔 쓰지 않는다. 맥락에 따라 중립적이거나 부정적 의미 가능.
