과일이나 채소 등이 가장 신선하고 저렴하게 나오는 시기. 또한, 사냥이나 낚시가 허용되는 기간을 뜻하기도 함.

주로 식재료(특히 과일, 야채)에 많이 쓰이며, 메뉴나 시장에서 자주 볼 수 있습니다. 사냥이나 낚시가 허용된 시기를 말할 때도 씁니다. 반대는 'out of season'(비제철)입니다.
