家畜や人を刺す大きくてすばやく飛ぶ昆虫で、農場や厩舎の周りによく見かけます。

「アブ」は通常、痛みを伴って噛む種類のハエで、「ハエ（家にいる）」とは異なります。主に田舎や動物の周りで使われます。
