누군가가 잘못한 일에 대해 매우 심하게 야단치거나 비판하다.

비격식적인 표현이며, '혼내다'보다 훨씬 강한 의미로, 주로 상사나 권위자가 누군가를 심하게 꾸짖을 때 쓴다. 부드러운 지적에는 사용하지 않는다.
