何か良いことが起きると強く期待することですが、もし叶わなかった場合、がっかりすることもあります。

カジュアルな場面で使われ、『Don’t get your hopes up.（あまり期待しないで）』のように注意を促す時によく使われます。小さな期待には使いません。

Don’t get your hopes up about the concert tickets.

コンサートのチケットにあまり**期待しないで**。
