自由民是指曾經是奴隸但已經獲得自由的人，尤指古羅馬或美國廢除奴隸制後的歷史時期。

通常只能在歷史或學術語境下使用，尤其指古羅馬、美國等有奴隸制的社會。不等同於“自由人”（從未為奴的人）。“freedman”的複數形式。
