금지하다

Definition

어떤 행동을 허락하지 않고 하지 못하게 하는 것. 주로 규칙, 법, 권위자 등이 사용함.

공식적(규칙, 법, 부모 등)으로 뭔가를 금지할 때 사용. '-ing' 동사와 자주 사용됨('forbids smoking'). 'prevent'와 구분해야 함.

The school forbids chewing gum in class.

학교는 교실에서 껌을 **금지한다**.

My doctor forbids me from eating sweets.

의사는 내가 단 것을 먹는 것을 **금지한다**.

The law forbids drinking alcohol under eighteen.

법은 18세 미만의 음주를 **금지한다**.
