पतले धागे या रेशे, जो अक्सर बल्ब, पौधों या अन्य सामग्रियों में बहुत बारीक रूप में पाए जाते हैं।

वैज्ञानिक या तकनीकी संदर्भों में ज्यादा प्रयोग—'बल्ब के धागे', 'मांसपेशियों के तंतु', 'पौधे के तंतु' आदि। आम धागा या बाल के लिए नहीं। बहुवचन में कई पतले रेशों का समूह।
