'মল' শব্দটি চিকিৎসা বা বৈজ্ঞানিক প্রসঙ্গে ব্যবহার হয়; দৈনন্দিন কথোপকথনে সাধারণত ব্যবহৃত হয় না। শিশুসুলভ বা সাধারণভাবে 'পটি' বা 'পুপু' ব্যবহৃত হয়।
