'Excite' é mais formal; no dia a dia, use mais 'excited' ou 'exciting.' Combina com 'interest,' 'curiosity,' etc. Normalmente é algo que causa a emoção (ex: 'The results excited the crowd'). Não diga 'he excited' para 'ele ficou animado.'
