অনানুষ্ঠানিক, চতুরভাবে দায়িত্ব এড়াতে ব্যবহৃত। যেমন: 'duck out of work'। এতে বিপদ থেকে পালানো বোঝায় না, বরং দায়িত্ব এড়ানো বোঝায়।
