মূলত কথ্য ও নিরপেক্ষ ইংরেজিতে ব্যবহৃত। আক্ষরিক বা রূপক অর্থে থাকতে পারে। 'fall behind'-এর মতো হলেও 'drag behind'-এ কষ্ট বা সংগ্রামের ইঙ্গিত থাকতে পারে। সাধারণত চলাফেরা, পড়াশোনা বা কাজে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
