এতটা উচ্চ শব্দ, যা অন্য কিছু শোনা অসম্ভব করে তোলে; অথবা এমন নীরবতা, যা খুবই তীব্র মনে হয়।

Usage Notes (Bengali)

'deafening roar', 'deafening applause' এর মতো খুব জোরালো শব্দ বর্ণনায় ব্যবহৃত হয়; আবার 'deafening silence' বলতে অস্বাভাবিকভাবে ভারী নীরবতা বোঝাতে পারে। মাঝারি শব্দের জন্য নয়।
