Definition

両足を揃え、腕を体の横にして真っ直ぐ立つこと。軍隊の命令でよく使われます。また、注目を集める意味でも使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

軍隊や警察で命令としてよく使います。比喩的には何かが注目される時にも使われます。「pay attention（注意を払う）」とは意味が異なります。 'when～' のような使い方もよくあります。
