突然恐怖や驚きで逃げ出すこと。または（レタスやほうれん草などの）植物が早く花を咲かせたり種をつけたりすること。
Usage Notes (Japanese)
人や動物については「突然逃げる」意味で使われます。園芸ではレタスやほうれん草などが食用に適さなくなるほど早く花が咲く時に使います。
