권위 있는 사람이 내리는 공식적인 명령이나 요청을 의미하며, 주로 문어체나 격식을 차리는 상황에서 사용됩니다.

'behest'는 일상 대화보다는 공식적이거나 문어체에서만 쓸 수 있습니다. 'at someone's behest'는 '누구의 명령이나 요청에 따라'라는 뜻입니다. 단순한 '요청'이나 '제안'에는 사용하지 않습니다.

He joined the committee at his manager's behest.
