건물의 지상층 아래에 위치한 공간이나 방으로, 주로 창고, 세탁실, 또는 때로는 생활 공간으로 사용됩니다.

한국에서는 지하실이 일반 주택에 흔하지 않으며, 주로 아파트나 건물에 일부 존재합니다. 'Finished basement'는 주거공간으로 꾸민 지하실을 의미합니다.
