Usage Notes (Japanese)
'Astonishment'は通常の'surprise'より強くフォーマルな表現。'in astonishment'（驚きで）、'to one's astonishment'（～が驚いたことに）はよく使われ、日常の軽い驚きにはあまり用いません。
