Definition

ছাইয়ের ডিব্বা হলো সাধারণত ধাতব তৈরি এমন পাত্র, যেখানে চুলা, অগ্নিবিধান বা অবসাদ থেকে আসা ছাই সংরক্ষণ ও ফেলা হয়। এটি মাঝে মাঝে পুরাতন ধাতব ডাস্টবিনের অর্থেও ব্যবহৃত হয়।

'Ashcan' শব্দটা পুরনো ও মূলত আমেরিকান ইংরেজিতে ব্যবহৃত হয়। আধুনিক কথোপকথনে বেশি ব্যবহার হয় না; বর্তমানে 'dustbin', 'garbage can' ইত্যাদি প্রচলিত। ঐতিহাসিক প্রসঙ্গে ব্যবহার উপযুক্ত। 'metal ashcan', 'old ashcan' এর মত বাক্যে পাওয়া যেতে পারে।
