アルゴナウタイは、ギリシャ神話でイアソンとともに金羊毛を探しに航海した英雄たち。また、「アルゴノート」は紙のような殻を作るタコの一種も指します。

「アルゴナウタイ」は主に文学や歴史で使われます。神話の英雄を指す場合は大文字で書きます。生物学で使う時はタコの種類（小文字）。現代では冒険家や探検家の比喩にもなります。
