完全に正確ではないが、ほぼ近い数値や説明。正確な情報がわからない時によく使われます。

科学や数学だけでなく、日常会話でも使われます。「rough approximation」は大まかな見積もり、「good approximation」はかなり正確な値を指します。人には使わず、物や値に使います。「assumption」と混同しないでください。
