Definition

어떤 것을 원래 상태에서 조금이나마 다르게 바꾸는 것.

주로 공식적이거나 글에서 사용하며, 완전히 바꾸는 것이 아니라 조금 바꾸고 조정할 때 쓴다. 'change'보다 약간 좁은 의미.

She alters her dress to make it fit better.

그녀는 원피스를 몸에 맞게 **수정하다**.
