물리적으로 딱딱하고 구부러지지 않는 성질이나, 생각이나 규칙에서 유연하지 않은 태도를 말합니다.

공식적 상황에서 자주 쓰이며, 사물의 딱딱함이나 사람/제도의 경직성을 모두 나타냅니다. 'rigidity of the law', 'rigidity of thought'처럼 쓸 수 있고 'flexibility'와 반대 의미입니다.
