自分の利益のために、正直や直接的でなく、ルールや人、状況を操る行動をすること。その場の空気を読んで立ち回ることも含まれる。

主に批判的な意味合いで使われる。職場や組織内で「政治的な動き」をする場合によく使う。「play politics」は本当の政治ではなく、権力争いや駆け引きを指す。
