물건이나 전통, 이야기를 가족이나 그룹 내의 어린 사람에게 넘겨주거나 전하는 것.

가족 유산, 전통, 판결 등에 자주 사용합니다. 'hand down clothes'는 형제의 옷을 물려주는 것이고, 'hand down a verdict'는 판사의 판결 선고입니다. 'hand over'(즉시 건네주다)와는 다릅니다.
