무언가를 거칠게 토막내거나, 목에서 뭔가를 뱉어내듯 심하게 기침하는 것.

비격식적이며 자극적일 수 있음. 주로 거칠게 토막내거나 심하게 기침할 때 사용함. 'hack up a body'(시체 토막)처럼 폭력적 맥락과 'hack up phlegm'(가래 뱉기) 같은 의학적 맥락에서 쓰임. 컴퓨터 해킹 의미 아님.
