Definition

相手に直接言わずに、遠回しに何かを伝えること。

カジュアルな場面で使われる。直接伝えずに気づかせたい時に多い。'about'の代わりに「～についてほのめかす」と言うことが多い。具体的なアドバイスではない。

She dropped a hint about wanting a new phone.
