誰かや何かを特定の役割や目的のために選ぶこと。

'choose for'は「～のために」「～として」など役割や理由とともに使う。例えば「社長に選ぶ」のように具体的な目的が続く。単なる「選ぶ」と区別し、'choose from'（選択肢から選ぶ）と混同しないよう注意。
