何かを爆発や強い力で完全に壊し、細かくバラバラにすること。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

本当に爆発する場合と、議論で理論を全否定される場合など比喩的にも使う。些細な破損には使わず、完全な破壊を表す。「fall to pieces（徐々に崩れる）」とは意味が違うので注意。会話でよく使う。
