対立や喧嘩の場面で、感情よりも成熟と優しさを持って許す・受け流すこと。自分が損しても大人の対応をすること。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

性別に関係なく使い、喧嘩や衝突のアドバイスとしてよく登場する。'take the high road' の日本語相当表現とも関連がある。『大人になる』は直訳だが、柔らかいアドバイス表現が多い。
