車やバスなどを使わずに、仕方なく歩いて目的地まで行くこと。カジュアルな言い回し。

カジュアルな表現で、好んで歩くのではなく、仕方なく歩いた時によく使う。「'We had to hoof it' は '仕方なく歩いた' という意味。
