何かの決着をつけるために、相手と徹底的に争うこと。口論や競技、時には実際のケンカにも使う。

主に口語的な表現で、実際の貴族ではなく、口論や競技に使われる。'let them duke it out'は「やらせておく」の意味で日常的に使われる。

The two boys decided to duke it out in the playground.
