Tabut, ölen kişinin gömülmesi veya yakılması için yerleştirildiği kutudur. Bazen süslü mücevher kutusu anlamına da gelebilir.

Amerikan İngilizcesinde cenaze anlamında daha çok kullanılır; İngiliz İngilizcesinde ise 'coffin' tercih edilir. Mücevher kutusu olarak nadiren, eski veya resmi metinlerde geçer.
