この表現は、何かを他のものよりも好む・選びたいときに使います。選択の場面でよく使われます。

'Would rather'の後は動詞の原形を使います（例：would rather go）。他人の行動について言いたい時は「would rather + 主語 + 過去形」を使う（例：I'd rather you stayed）。会話やカジュアルな場面でよく使います。

I would rather stay at home tonight.
