主にレストランなどでお客様にサービスを提供すること。または、何かが起こるのを待つこと。

アメリカ英語で「wait on」はレストランのスタッフが使い、「サービスをする」意味が強いです。「wait for」と違い、単に待つ場合にはサービスの意味はありません。

The waitress will wait on us soon.
