Definición

건물이나 다리 등에서 보이지 않는 아래쪽에 있는, 구조물을 지탱하는 부분입니다. 일반적으로 전체를 받쳐주는 기초를 의미합니다.

주로 건설, 토목 분야에서 쓰이며, 가시적인 위(‘superstructure’)와 구분해야 합니다. 아래쪽 지지부를 의미합니다.

The substructure of the bridge was finished first.
