Definición

머리카락, 실, 밧줄처럼 가늘고 길게 이어진 섬유나 줄. 여러 가닥이 꼬이거나 엮여 하나를 이루는 경우 각 부분을 가리킨다.

주로 머리카락, 실, 밧줄, 진주처럼 가는 섬유나 줄 형태의 것에 사용됨. 'strands of hair', 'strands of pearls' 등과 같이 쓰임. 두껍거나 고체에는 사용하지 않음. 비유적으로 쓸 수 있음.

She pulled a few strands of hair from her brush.
