'sample' का भूतकाल। इसका अर्थ है किसी चीज़ का थोड़ा सा भाग परीक्षण या जाँच के लिए लेना या चखना। संगीत में भी, पुराने गीत के छोटे हिस्से को नए गाने में शामिल करने को कहा जाता है।
