도시나 지역의 중심에서 멀리 떨어진 곳이나 지역을 가리킬 때 사용합니다.

주로 '지역', '마을', '구역' 등과 함께 쓰며 사람에게는 거의 사용하지 않습니다. 격식 있는 표현입니다.
