電話を切って通話を終了したり、服などをハンガーやフックに掛けたりすること。

電話を切る意味でよく使われます（'hang up the phone'）。また、コートやタオルなどを掛ける場合にも使います。'hang up on someone' は一方的に電話を切ることです。
