경의나 인사를 표하기 위해 주로 모자나 겉옷을 벗는 것.

격식적이고 고풍스러운 표현으로, 주로 'doff one's hat' 같은 구에서 사용된다. 일상 대화에서는 거의 쓰이지 않는다.

He doffed his hat as he entered the room.

그는 방에 들어오며 모자를 **벗었다**.
