아주 가까이 뒤따라오는 것. 실제로 누군가 바로 뒤에 있거나, 무언가가 가까이 쫓고 있음을 말함.

주로 비유적으로(경쟁, 쫓기는 상황) 사용. 대개 비격식적 표현. 'on your heels'(즉시 뒤따라오는 의미)와 혼동하지 않기.
